Susan Gayle Henegar, 68, of Jonesboro gained her wings Thursday, May 2, 2024, at St. Bernards Medical Center surrounded by her husband and 2 daughters. She was born October 8, 1955, in Lubbock, Texas, to the late Jack and Josephine Brown. In 1968, the company her father worked for transferred them to Jonesboro where she met the love of her life, Robin Henegar.
After dating for 4 years, they married December 30, 1972, at First United Methodist in Jonesboro. Susan was a Jonesboro High School graduate, class of 1973. Shortly after graduating, she joined Rob in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he was active duty in the United States Army. During that time, they made a home and started a family. On, May 4, 1974, they welcomed their first son, Heath Michael Henegar, into the world. After only 382 days, the Lord called their sweet baby home.
They relocated back to Jonesboro shortly after to help run the family business, Wests Dry Cleaners. The business has been family owned and operated since 1958. Susan loved Wests Dry Cleaners and took pride in quality work and customer service. Her employees were family, and her customers were friends.
Susan loved her family and her dog, Bella, more than anything. She was supportive and present in everything they did. Susan was the biggest fan of her grandchildren and was there for everything from volleyball games to band concerts.
In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her son, Heath Henegar.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Rob Henegar, of the home; 1 son, Matt Henegar, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; 2 daughters, Sara (Randy) Sullivan of Jonesboro and Kelli Henegar Than of Jonesboro; 3 brothers: David (Tammy) Brown of Jonesboro, Gary (Kay) Brown of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Craig (Kathy) Brown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Deaconess Kathy Brown and Chaplain David White officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with active pallbearers being Chad Hogard, Chris Poe, Todd Nelson, Lyle Waterworth, Jeremy Parnell, and Shay Racy.
Honorary pallbearers are the Jonesboro Police Department Criminal Investigation Division.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
